Welcome to American History
Hello Parents and Students! My name is Ms. Smith and I teach American History. If you have come to this website I will assume that you are either one of my students or a parent of one my students. Below you will find some information about me as well as information on my goal as a teacher. Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions.
A little about me
I was born and raised in Southern California, where I went through twelve years of Catholic education. In the fall of 2010 I made the big move from the San Fernando Valley (the greater LA area) all the way to the city of Orange (Orange County, an hour away from LA) to attend Chapman University. There I studied History and Integrated Educational Studies. I was involved in the social justice community, Relay for Life and Housing and Residence Life. I continued at Chapman to get my single subject credential. I am now living my life teaching my favorite subject, history in my favorite area, United States of America.
My Goal
My goal for all of my students is to help them succeed. I understand that history is not everyone's favorite subject. As you would never see me enjoying a math course, I don't expect all my students to love history. But I do hope that by the end of the year you have found some part of our story as a country invigorating. When May rolls around I expect my students to have a good understanding of what makes the United States the power that it is. You should be able to identify the most influential events in our history, comprehend how the government and economy have evolved, and understand your role as a citizen. I am excited about the year ahead and I hope you are too. If you're not, then go ahead and pretend you are to apease me please!
